I'm glad we're getting some exposure and not the kind that talks about terrorism, natural disasters and or the current government debacle.
I haven't written this up yet, but the folks at PAL don't seem to know where Siargao is. I asked the information desk agent about flights and xmas packages, but she said she didn't know where it was. Even when I told her it was in Mindanano, no bells, no eureka moment.
Try saying Surigao. or Surigao del Sur. That would ring a bell.

The city grows at a rapid pace, with it come the usual problems. Elegance and decay, luxury and poverty lie side by side. This is what makes Manila so interesting, says Carlos Celdran, a tour guide who works to bring Manila closer to the tourists. Armed with humor and charm, he accompanies his clients to a Chinese cemetary, among other things, or introduces them to the secrets of Philippine aphrodisiacs. Manila is a colorful mix of different cultures...even German "Aussteigers" (a bit hard to translate---the closest word would be "dropout", although that isnt quite it) have been absorbed/engulfed by the city. Case in point: hairdresser Stefan Wilczynski from Berlin. The Filipinos' warmth and tolerance fascinate him. He says that he has already gotten used to their culture. Discover Manila! Especially with someone who knows it well.
Carlos, like former President Fidel Ramos, you should start touring Europe and try to attract foreign investments for the Philippines... :-)
I think that telling those greying Europeans the secrets of Philippine aphrodisiacs will do the trick. :-)
Unlike the Philippines our population growth is negative and we could use some Pinoy advice on that too !
