DREAM. DREAM. DREAM.
One day I would love to see the Santo Domingo Church rebuilt on it's former site inside Intramuros.
It was located where the Bank of the Philippine Islands Office now stands. It's right next to the Starbucks fronting the Department of Immigration next to the Pasig River.Oh well. Perhaps one day.
Does anybody know a Zobel or a Xeres Burgos to whom we can flow this idea by?

The problem is that Intramuros has been depopulated and is now sooooo far from the center of activities that it's hard to imagine people going all the way there to worship in Sto. Domingo
People build churches on top of mountains and hills and reclaimed areas and people still go to them.
Build the church and they will come.
Look at Mall of Asia.
I am one with your dream...may the same be fulfilled for the 4 other churches lost in Intramuros which WWII has deprived our generation to appreciate and take pride in.
Hopefully, the Ayuntamiento and the Intendencia buildings are likewise restored. It is saddening to see them in the neglected and decrepit state they now are in - with nary a soul recognizing their historic significance.
I am also in favor of rebuilding lost heritage gems in Intramuros. This would be very nice. It's a bit unfair that the present generation was deprived of this gem.
And speaking of benefactors, what happened to Bea Zobel Jr.?
I don't think she has as much clout with Bank of the Philippine Islands the way her brother jaza would.
Yeah.
Actually, most of Intramuros would have been rebuilt should Cory Aquino not have cut all the funding as revenge against Imelda.
