BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!

A SMOKEY MOUNTAIN STORY
In an attempt to show the realities of Manila tempered with a hopeful twist, I'm going to post this wonderful video. Shot by The Living Room resident Romeo Candido, it's a short documentary of a project currently being done at Smokey Mountain. Former Living Room resident Marlene Sahakian also appears.

I love this short feature because it shows that things are being done to solve our city's problems. And although slow and small, it's definitely a sure thing.

And for those of you who are wondering. Yes, I am related to the Celdran in this video. She is my first cousin.

Hi Mr. Celdran!

We are 69 seniors of Political Science 100 in the Ateneo de Manila University. I'm the team leader together with my friend, Harry Cheng.
We are very interested in joining your tour for Living La Vida Imelda in September or October as part of our course requirement of understanding the Martial Law era.

We are mostly free as a group on Saturdays.

What dates would you be available and what rates could you give us?

Pls. reply soon to my email address (dotzy_wotzy@yahoo.com). I've also left you an email with my mobile and landline details.

Thank you!

p.s. I've been to your Intramuros walking tour under my Sociology-Anthropology class. It was certainly a memorable experience, which prompted us to join again!

Galing! Bravo Anita, Marlyne, SPM!
Bravo Direk Romeo! Great footage.

Smokey Mountain has been the big mother load dump for ages but it's nice to see progress and change coming from there. Wasn't there an Australian fashion group who were making clothes with the Smokey Mountain folks (they asked Rajo to design some stuff.) Then there's Father Giovanni Gentelin's Italian-sponsored scholarship coming out of the parish near Smokey Mountain. I believe Milan has adopted Tondo as a "sister community".

Nice to see Pinoys also doing our bit. Sana more pa. As the kids at the end of the video sang, "Don't be a stranger in your own land."
