NEW! NEW! NEW!

This is my new logo for Walk This Way! Walking Tours.  It was done by graphic designer and ex-scientist Cathy Young.  Whatchathink?  I think it's cool.

Now if only I knew HTML, I could stick it on the top of the sidebar of my webpage.  Anybody out there know how to do that?

It would be interesting if you put a proper poll/survey. So then you would know who or where from your comments are and measure the response.

- i'll keep the font
- i like it that it is monochromatic, it's perfect to graffiti.
-no recognition of any symbol about Manila, the Philippines, or a walking tour. On top of mind the text 'Walk this Way' is still associated to an Aerosmith hit, diba? Perhaps add/change the subtext to celdran tours, or manila walking tour, manila history tour.

- your aquiline profile is more prominent than this hat. Why not a caricature of you walking with this hat on?

- the vibe is a bit stiff, thus unfriendly. buti na lang the hat is tilted a bit, but you are way playful than this.

- if I'm an American, I might associate this hat to Abe Lincoln

- oooh, and seriously, it will be fun to graffiti you because it's street art and you work on the streets of manila!. You know think of those humourous Banksy style graffiti popping up in unexpected places.

Sorry, overall I don't fancy it.

hey carlos,

you can put this piece of html in your sidebar:

[img src=”http://bp3.blogger.com/_VC_YkHE3LOo/SHvxdoDI0BI/AAAAAAAABDM/rg5RIa1Oao4/s320/Walk-this-Way-vertical-tran.jpg” title=”Walk This Way” width=”210” height=”210”]

(note: change the "[ ]" to "< >" )

img src is where your image is saved/located.

you can change the properties of the width and height depending on how big/small you want the image to be. i used 210 because your sidebar's width is 220px.

try it, and just msg me if you ever have problems with html again. hehe.

As it's a logo, rather than a poster, I guess the people who see it will already know what you're all about. I like it. The top hat is very much associated with you in Manila - I spotted you from a mile off the last time I was in Intramuros. And I've always thought 'Walk This Way' has a smiley, not too serious appeal. I give it a thumbs up. On the other hand Carlosfan made some good points, so...

Jeez! This is like watching that Zeitgeist movie - you keep thinking 'I don't know...Oh, that's rubbish...hmmm, he's got a point there...No, no no!'

Please ask a simpler question next time. 'What do you think?' is waaaaay too hard. :-)

PS. Lincoln, being a President (and, indeed, American) had a top hat much bigger than yours. It looked like a funnel from the Lusitania. He did, however, have a similarly aquiline profile, the sexy beast.

Hey Sir Carlos. About that html thingy? I have a simple suggestion that might help you.

Try uploading the image to photobucket (www.photobucket.com). After you have uploaded it, a direct url, html and some other codes will appear just below the image. Copy the html code and paste it on your sidebar. If you want to put a link on the image, paste the code on notepad first,You can see the image url written twice in the code. On the first url, (http://....) replace it with the url you want it to give when clicked. Be careful not to include the parentheses and other code characters when replacing the url. Then, at the end of the code, there is a "Photobucket" word. replace it with what ever word you want to define the image.

There, thought you might wanna try it out.

by the way, try visiting me at http://aseanclan.blogspot.com and http://allenyuarata.blogspot.com

Hey Carlos! No need to be that tech savvy. Just go hit the customize button on top as you would when posting a new entry, then click on the Layout tab on the upper left hand side. From there go to the side bar section where you can add a photo (different from your profile picture). You can choose to put it above or below your profile.

Hope this helps!

I like it but I agree with the earlier post... some allusion to Manila would be nice.

I think it doesn't do justice to Manila and to the quirky you! The logo is pretty boring!

Hmm. You guys raised good points but it IS a logo -- it must be scalable, simple, describable and can be drawn in three seconds by people who wish to recall it. Mr. Celdran can use all those other ideas (aquiline face, his silhouette, etc.) for posters and other merchandise. Then again, it's just an opinion. I think your tours are great anyways!

Would prefer a filipino-looking hat for you. This one looks like it's taken straight from broadway or west-end -- the ones worn by dancers in Chicago!:)

Honestly, your big mistake is...to ask people what they think of it.

If you like your logo, believe it represents your brand and is flexible enough for your needs, then what we say shouldn't matter.

It's just a logo. Like a brand name, ultimately, it matters less than what you make of the brand.

Cynthia. Haha! True.

But I believe in freedom of speech. And I agree with what a lot of people have said out there. And Cathy, the graphic designer (who is doing this out of her own volition, god bless her soul), is taking notes. We'll play around a bit.

But I'm keeping this logo though. It will work for my Intramuros tours. I am trying to get a place inside Intramuros to use as an art studio and hub for my tours and it would look great on a wooden board hanging outside a house in Intramuros. The hat gives an old world feel that matches the character of the walled city. I had to think of a context.

And budget. More than one color or detail only adds to my printing cost at the end of the day.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I am reeeaally hoping to get the space.

the "logo" is simply bold, striking, and beautiful - it may not be original but it makes for a strong brand

Carlos puts on different hats!

If the premise is, you changing the way you look at Manila, indeed you expanded the way we think way out of the walls. This hat is biased on the Intramuros tour. You wore a straw hat in Quiapo.

Google blogs mentioning you...some comments say he is funky, quirky, funny, theatrical, creative, colorful, entertaining, walking tours in costume.

The black bag across the body is more consistent in all the tours.
The boom box too... the binder, the flag!

So what's with this studio? Aren't we getting more than the walking tour, then? What about this old world hat with legs? now that's quirky. Para if a taxi driver drops one off at the "studio/hub", the landmark can be described as - yung itim na sombrerong may paa or sombrerong may paa.

SM (Shoemart) is a simple meaningless text as a logo. The visual really is the massive stone building that promises that you can find everything under its roof. And yes, 'We've got it all for you!' framed it nicely too.

It's not just a logo. A logo is a sign. A sign is a brand. A brand is a promise. A brand has personality and associations.

Hi Carlos!
When you finally decide if this is going to be your logo, may I suggest you get someone to make this your favicon? A favicon is the picture thingy beside your URL. Your favicon now is Blogger, the orange "B" right before http://. A favicon would be a nice touch. Hope this helps.
