HEEEEERE'S HELENA!
Remember Helena? That uber chic diva who used to run that edgy 70's fashion line Azabache and shmooze with Jean Paul Gaultier? Just a few months ago, I made a post about that ambitious plan of hers to create a utopian island/resort/artist's haven on an island in the north of Palawan. Well, no surprise. She got it done and she got it done fast.Mangueguey is now open. Two suites and two native cottages on a stunningly amazing island in Busuanga are ready and waiting for the discriminating traveller who is looking for that elusive "native chic" element missing from so many resorts in the Palawan region. The design of the resort is Vogue Decor meets Nipa Hut, it's cuisine fresh and light, and Helena's personal touch make Mangueguey truly the epitome of barefoot sophistication.
Mangueguey is really one of a kind. And that's only natural because the same can be said of Helena as well.
Quick. Make your easter holiday plans now. Make reservations at Mangueguey and check it out for yourself.

Stay tuned. I'm planning a three day weekend trip to Mangueguey to visit the former Leprosy Colony on the Island of Culion sometime in the summer.

LOL. That's a good recommendation: it's in the whereabouts of a former leprosy colony. =)
Only the ignorant are unaware that leprosy is already treatable (for about a quarter of a century now) which made leper colonies all over the world unnecessary.
Yeah. Leprosy is a done deal no? And Culion is a stunning island. And the former colony an amazing piece of architecture that has been turned into an amazing heritage site/museum.
Can't wait to go back there. They even have a great restaurant there that serves fantastic fried fish and munggo.
I know. BIg deal no? But it was really good.
Looks great !
oh my gosh i'm in love with the place already. i shall book for feb!
Looks exclusive Resort, beyond average Filipino's budget.
Hi Carlos. It looks like the perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway too. Thanks for posting this. By the way, do you think you can ask Helena for me about where she gets her furniture? ;-) They look lovely and uber chic! ;-)
I believe it's either vintage or she designs it herself.
I think her husband also makes lots of stuff. He is a master craftsman. Used to work for Sister Parish.
I clicked on the website link, but all I see are the photos of the place. Didn't see any rates?
Nice beach house but ordinary Filipinos will not able to afford this kind of accomodation.
I remember Cebu Island where I used to live. I can just walk to the beach in 5 mins from our house.
Fresh fish and clams were sold only a peso a kilo but that was before.
Traveler's it's right there if you click on mangueguey.com, It's 150$ a day on the island.
Cheers
I'd love to book but I can't seem to find their contact numbers. Can I have them? Thanks.
Carlos,
Sorry to make you like a walking directory, but the there seems to be something wrong with the site and I can't find contact number or email add where I could inquire. Please send. My best regards. Thank you.
