TIME OUT!
STRIKING WHILE THE IRONY IS HOT...
Ok. I just had to stop my email editing and my backlog of blog draft writing to bring you this "What the F...?" segment. Was I hallucinating on mushrooms or did I see Imelda on the cover of the Philippine Star lounging by breakwater of the Philippine Plaza Hotel in a blue muu-muu with photographers all around her? Apparently not, according to the LA Times. According to them, her daughter, Congresswoman Imelda Jr. "Imee" Marcos and her sons (among them, androgynous Blue Soda spokesmodel, Borgy Manotoc), are all set to be launching the Imelda Collection, a line of retro-style clothing, accessories, and obviously, (throat clearing), shoes.
Read the article here.
And speaking of scary muu-muu, thank you Cynthia Dayco for sending me the lovely photos of last weeks cemetery tour. Click here for the album.

This what happens when you're out, carlos! I guess this only confirms my suspicion- between this and that harebrained idea of borgy the worthless running for mayor of Manila- Imee Marcos is neurologically imbalanced. Must've took too much of what she was popping back in her party days...
Hi Carlos! Welcome back !! Hope your trip was all that and more...
Personally, I think Imelda is trotally deserving and constantly living up to her moniker-- Madame. there can be no other.
I saw her actually this weekend at our church, turning over a new leaf hopefully. Everyone was in thrall.
I think though, that she is still FAB and even at this age continously making headlines. We should all be so lucky to be that fiesty in our 70-s no?
As for her clothing line---WHY NOT??? she IS an icon after all and if dingbats like britney spears can have their own lines, why not Madame??? I would buy. Totally. :-)

I guess this is where she shops for her beads. And then she'll sell them for exorbitant prices
Yikes. Almost fell of my seat when I read this. Indeed, a WTF moment. Ended up discussing it with officemates. I can\'t wait to find out who\'s coming to her UK event!
Welcome back, btw!
her latest gimmick is international news, actually. just saw it reported yesterday here in Singapore over Mediacorp. well, she's still insisting she's the new ukay-ukay queen and that her clothes are recycled and her accessories are from divi and greenhills :)
personally i think this is part of their elaborate scheme to launch borgy's political career. Heaven help the Philippines!
to poster #2,
yeah, she's totally FAB. there's nothing like being soooo rich and famous, being able to shop in madison ave., staying at the ritz carlton, hobnobbing with the creme de la creme of society, having people wait on you hand and foot.... yeah there's nothing like that- specially if the money you're burning is not yours, and millions of people are cant even afford proper medical care and food because decades ago, somebody decided that she has to live it up like a queen. quite FAB indeed.
I am absolutely disgusted that Imelda has become a pop icon, her face emblazoned on handbags and earrings, a la Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe images. Someone once asked me why, and I asked if they would put the faces of convicted murderers or thieves on their jewelry. To add insult to injury, she’s now even going to profit from it! This country is nothing if not surreal.
I’m also angered when people say we should “move on” or “forgive & forget,” some even saying it’s the Christian thing to do. WRONG. Even a priest will tell you there can be no forgiveness without remorse and penance. The Marcoses have never admitted their crimes, never apologized, and never returned what they stole. This is one of the major reasons our country is on a downward spiral – if Filipinos continue to ignore history, we can never learn from it.
I quite agree with acidboy and have to add, mrsa, maybe you can refrain from buying the dog-collar choker and get a book on our recent history, instead?
The Marcos couple plundered the country, jailed/tortured/murdered innocent people, took away your basic freedoms and basically left this poor country to the dogs. You are still heavily in debt due to the money they stole and mismanaged when they were in power.
If Imelda's venture ever become a success, the Filipinos are hopeless idiots that deserve third world status forever.
You should all be going to that store not to shop, but to burn it down for all the evil that they have done to you people!!!
"If Imelda's venture ever become a success, the Filipinos are hopeless idiots that deserve third world status forever."
You on the rag or something? Chill, beeyotch.
Imelda rocks!
Actually, if he was on the rag, he'd probably get the whole Imelda thing.
The Philippines isn't Third World as much as it is Through-the-Looking-Glass World. Don't try to make sense of it, or you will go mad.
